Information from the Irish Society
Dear Angling Club,
This is to follow up our last message of 12thJanuary, with an update on our plans for the Festival of Game Fishing which will be held ‘virtually’ on Friday 12th March between 12.00 noon and 8.00pm. We have had a lot of interest and offers of support for the event, which is taking shape nicely.
Confirmed speakers include Prof Ken Whelan from Atlantic Salmon Trust, Dr Richard Kennedy and Dr Robert Rosell from AFBI and Jim Haughey, former Chairman of the Ulster Angling Federation.
We would ask that you circulate the details and the free Registration link below, as widely as possible.
A leaflet attached gives some more details about the Festival.
We invite clubs to nominate a current member for each of the following prize categories; a prize winner in each category will be announced on the night and the winner will receive either a cash prize or a voucher for fishing equipment. Nominations must be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Thursday 4th March.
· Most promising young member (aged under 18)
· Member who has contributed most to river & fishery conservation within the club
· Member who has contributed most to the club over a long period of time
· We also wish to receive nominations for an award for the angling club with the best Disabled Facilities and Fishery Access
· Best fishery or river photograph of 2020
We are also keen to hear from clubs and fishermen/women who may have an interesting tale to tell about their river, or club, or fishing experience – a recorded video no more than 5 minutes long may be included which will be played in one of the gaps between presentations and main speakers. Again, we need to hear from you by 5pm on Thursday 4th March to ensure that it can be included.
Any questions or thoughts that you may have, may be sent to email@example.com
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Secretary, The Honourable The Irish Society
