Warren takes the honours for the first salmon of 2010 After the long cold winter we have had, things are now starting to heat up, as the anglers in the roe valley are getting ready for the new seasons run of salmon, It is now early June some keen anglers will be out along the banks in the hope of running into some of the early big sea trout, Warren Campbell was one of these, on the 8th June Warren set off to the town stretches fishing with the worm, in the hope of getting one of the good early sea trout, when fishing a favourite throw of his, his bait stopped out at the far edge of the river, getting a few small pulls similar to those from flat fish he waited a moment, the pulls got heavier leading Warren to believe it was no flat fish, could it be one of the big sea trout he was after? Letting a bit of free line out the fish took the bait, Warren sett the hook and off it went!! At this point he fully knew what he had hooked, too his surprise it was not that big sea trout, but a fresh run salmon, Warren is no stranger to fishing and knew exactly what to do, to get this fish landed, on playing it out and netting it, Warren had landed himself the First Salmon on the river Roe for 2010, it was a fresh run bar of silver weighing 6. more...Sean Mc Closkey an appreciation
